CERIB provides volume measurement services in accordance with relevant standards (NF EN ISO 8655-5 and NF EN ISO 8655-6).

The method used consists in weighing the volume of distilled water contained in the measuring instrument in order to check the match between the volume indicated and the volume calculated from the weight of water.
The volume V20 at the reference temperature (20°C) is determined with the following formula:

where:

M  is the mass of pure water in kg
ρA    is the density of air in kg/m3
ρB    is the density of the scale’s weights, i.e. 8000 kg/m3
ρis the density of water in kg/m3
γ   is the coefficient of cubic expansion of the material (glass or plastic) from which the volumetric instrument is made, in °C-1
T   is the temperature of the water in the receptacle, in °C.

Range covered:

  • from 2 ml to 10 l.

Types of apparatus calibrated:

– piston-operated volumetric apparatus ;
– admixture pumps ;
– graduated measuring cylinder.
