Tests on construction products and systems
CERIB can conduct a range of tests on construction products and works, e.g.:
- mechanical tests: tensile/compressive/fatigue (up to 25 t tensile, 600 t compressive); structural test bed for testing large elements
- non-destructive testing: measurement of fundamental resonance frequency, determination of Young’s modulus, measurement of the speed of sound wave propagation, calibration of rebound hammer on anvil and cylindrical specimens
- raintightness testing of masonry (test method: CERIB/CSTB procedure)
- acoustic and thermal testing
- slip testing of floor coverings
- initial type testing for CE marking of construction products
- testing of sewage treatment equipment (individual and mains).
Physico-chemical testing
The teams of our Materials and Circular Economy laboratories can help work on your projects:
- modelling of the properties of materials based on hydraulic binders
- calculation of structural lifetimes with a probabilistic approach, using the COMSOL program, for example
- diagnostics support for analyzing the origins of causes of disorders in works
- characterization tests for materials and durability properties (carbonation, chloride migration, stain resistance, leaching, colour durability, etc.).
Fire testing
With the state-of-the-art equipment of our Promethee laboratory, the CERIB Fire Testing Centre can carry out fire-resistance testing for structures and assemblies under real-life loading conditions (tunnel lining segments, floor and structural components, masonry, glazing, etc.).
The effects of interactions between the element being tested under fire and the surrounding cold structure are simulated by reproducing stiffness. The corresponding forces are slaved through a computer for application of the loads based on displacements measured at the extremities of the test component.
The Fire Testing Centre also works jointly with European and international laboratories.
